Mick joined Offbeats in 2004 with full knowlege of the fact that the band has burned through drummers like Spinal Tap, and despite such info, vows to "take it to his grave, or outlive all other band members." He brings his authentic rock, jazz, and afro-cuban styles to the original sound of the band. Cited by the "San Francisco Chronicle" as a "local phenom,"
Mick Berry has been playing drums for over 30 years. He has studied with such legends as New Orleans drummers James Black and John Vidacovich, local percussionist Michael Spiro and Afro-Cuban drummer Walfredo Reyes, Sr. Mick is the author of "The Drummer's Bible - How to play Every Drum Style from
Afro-Cuban to Zydeco" with co-author Jason Gianni. He currently resides in San Francisco
where he performs and records with numerous bands playing a wide range of styles,
several of which he shares with Offbeats bassist Tim Boomer. |
